Trimspa Problems
Boy does the Trimspa company have problems. Some feel that their future is not too bright. Anna Nicole Smith was hired as the Company’s spokeswoman back in October, 2003 but prior to that the company had hit rock bottom because of low sales volume. The company was facing disaster. The company got wind of the fact that Anna Nicole Smith had lost 69 pounds in about 8 months while taking the Trimspa diet pill. She was taking the maximum of 6 pills a day. The company then hired her as their spokeswoman and she appeared in the Trimspa commercials and banner ad campaigns.
Anne Nicole Smith was born on November 28, 1967 as Vicki Lynn Hogan. Her father ran off when she was a child so she was raised by her mother and her grandmother. In 1993 she was crowned Playboy Playmate of the year. She began to model and was in the movie Naked Gun 33 1/3 and played the part of Tanya Peters. In 1994 she married the 85 year old millionaire J. Howard Marshall II. Anna produced a reality show based on her own life showing an overweight rich woman from 2002 to 2004. Anna Nicole was facing many problems and after becoming the spokeswoman for Trimspa her problems only grew worse. Anna Nicole passed away on February 8, 2007. Her sudden death shocked the nation.
For the first two years with the company the company’s sales soared thanks to Anna Nicole. Then for the past three years the sales again began to slump and some feel it was because of several things. The Trimspa products were not working like they should have. There were lawsuits cropping up and Anna Nicole was named in the law suits as well as the Trimspa company. The Federal Trade Commission fined the Trimspa company $1.5 million for false advertising and making statements about the pills that they did not have scientific proof to back them up. The Trimspa agreed to pay the fine but stated that it was not an admission of guilt. They just wanted to get the FTC to stop their two year investigation. It was discovered that Anna Nicole was also taking other aids at the same time she was taking the Trimspa diet pills when she lost the 69 pounds. This did not sit well with some of the Trimspa customers who had bought the pills because they believed what Anna Nicole was saying about the diet pills. She was the life of the business and helped the business grow but the false statements made came back on the company and Anna Nicole in a very bad way. It is hard to say what the future of the company is. Some feel that they are not going to last long.
