Trimspa Recall Trimspa recall. Trimspa used to have ephedra as one of the ingredients in their weight loss diet pills. Ephedra was banned in the United States because it was causing dangerous side effects. The Trimspa company replaced the ephedra with hoodia gordinii which comes from a cactus like succulent plant found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. Hoodia fools the brain into thinking you are full so you will not eat as much as usual. It will work alone as a weight loss supplement and will not cause side effects. It is also known to increase energy and help in other ways. The SANS tribesmen in the Kalahari Desert used it as a food supplement when off on hunting trips in the desert. They could eat the stems of the hoodia plant then go for days without food or water so it quenched their thirst too. It is not known how much hoodia gordonii is in the Trimspa pills because the company keeps the amounts of their ingredients a secret. They also keep a few ingredients a secret. They do not list every ingredient on the labels of their pill bottles. They claim the reason for it is so no one can steal their formula. The Trimspa company is facing lawsuits and the Federal Trade Commission has fined the Trimspa Company $1.5 million for false advertising and making statements about their products without the scientific proof to back them up. The company agreed to pay the fine in January, 2007 but claimed the reason they did it was so the Federal Trade Commission would stop their investigation which had been going on for about two years. They claim it was not an admission of guilt on their part. Many people are not pleased with the Trimspa diet pills and claim the pills did nothing for them. Some say they lost a few pounds while taking the Trimspa pills but gained them back plus some after they stopped taking the pills. There were some Trimspa customers who tried the diet pills and had to stop taking them because of one or more side effects. There have been many reported side effects from the diet pills. Many people can not take them because of existing medical problems or because they take certain medications which do not mix with the Trimspa pills. The company claims that all of the ingredients in the pills are from natural sources but there are many reported side effects from it so one should discuss the use of the pills with your doctor before trying them. The company sales have dropped in the past three years and people are claiming that the pills do nothing for them. It is believed by some that the company may not be around much longer.
