Trimspa and Anna Nicole Smith The Trimspa company hired Anna Nicole Smith as their spokesperson in October, 2003 after they learned that she had lost 69 pounds in about 8 months while taking the Trimspa diet pill. It was reported that she was taking 6 pills a day. Anna Nicole became the spokesperson for the Trimspa company and their sales increased tremendously because of the commercials and banner ad campaigns Anna appeared in. Prior to that the company was hurting financially because of lack of sales. For several years the sales of the diet pills continued to increase and the credit was given to Anna Nicole and her commercials. Then slowly, and gradually the lawsuits and complaints began to surface. The company and Anna Nicole were accused of false advertising and misleading the public about the diet pills. Anna Nicole made the comment to reporters that she had also taken other aids to help her lose weight at the same time she was taking the Trimspa diet pills. She is also named in the lawsuits because she was the company’s spokesperson. Much of the popularity of the Trimspa diet pill is said to be because of unique advertising and ad campaigns and not the fact that the pills would actually work. Many people who have tried the diet pills claim the pills did nothing for them at all and did not work the way the company claimed they would. The sales of the diet pills has dropped tremendously in the past three years and some people feel that it is just a matter of time before the company crashes. Anna Nicole was the spokesperson up until her sudden death on February 8. 2007 and it was not known if she was still taking the Trimspa pills at the time of her death. The Trimspa weight loss pill has many possible side effects and is not safe for many to use. Many have complaints that the pills do not work or they lost a few pounds then gained them back after they stopped taking the pills. Others had to stop taking the pills because of side effects. One person experienced pain in the elbows, knees, wrists, stomach ache, and pain in the lower abdomen. The pains increased until they stopped taking the pills then it was three or four days afterwards before the pain subsided. Those who have an allergy to shellfish should not take the pills. Other side effects reported are migraines, pain in the chest, heart palpitations, restlessness, insomnia, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing, chromium toxicity, increase in blood glucose, swelling of the throat or esophagus which may cause choking if not enough water is taken with the pill, and jitters.
