Weight Loss Plateau

Are you on a diet and have reached your weight loss plateau? Many people are on weight loss diets and the biggest majority of them will reach a plateau where they stop losing weight while still doing the same thing and taking the same weight loss products they were using. They reach a point where their weight stays the same for weeks at a time and they have not reached their weight loss goal. It is a temporary situation so do not get excited and panic. Sometimes our bodies just get used to the routine and just stop losing weight. There are ways you can break through this ‘rut’ and start losing weight again. One person says, “eat something bad” and went off to the nearest Burger King. Now this person swears that by eating a burger once a week it helps them stay on track. In other words, cheat once in a while. Break the monotony and surprise the body. This particular person was on the Weight Watchers diet.

Another reason you may not be still losing weight is because you may be ‘cheating’ too much. Are you still eating the same as you were when you began your diet when you stayed on track? You may have gradually eased into more and more foods that are not helpful in weight loss and you either stopped losing or began gaining weight again and didn’t know why. It is very easy to fall back into the same old eating habits. A good way to take control of this problem is to keep track of everything you eat and drink for a minimum of three days. You might be surprised to see how far off track you have become. Do not try to ‘fix’ the problem by going on a binge. Just get yourself back on the track you were on when you were losing weight. Just make sure you are eating properly and do not completely stop eating to try to make up for lost time.

Another person solved their problem by pumping some iron. By lifting weights they began to lose weight again and got out of the rut they were in. If you try this technique, make sure you are fit enough to do it. If you have health problems, consult your doctor before lifting weights.

The main idea is to just try something different and your body will soon begin to lose weight for you again. Just changing the routine from morning to evening, etc, may also work for some. If you usually exercise or walk in the mornings, try doing it in the evenings. Trick your body by doing something different but not something that will jeopardize your health. It can sometimes be something very simple, like eating a Burger King sandwich!
