Hoodia Plant
Take a stroll into the Kalahari Desert and you might come upon the miracle diet cactus look a like succulent plant which is taking the world by storm. It is now the newest and most sought after diet product on the market. The Hoodia plant is found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa and has been discovered as quite possibly the best diet supplement ever used. The Hoodia plant grows from 18 inches to 24 inches in spiny finger-like clusters. The bloom on the Hoodia is purplish in color and has a foul odor. The Hoodia plant is bitter when eaten. There are at least 20 or more species of the Hoodia plant but only 2 of these contain the molecules needed to lose weight and boost energy. These are called Hoodia Gordonii plants. The Hoodia Gordonii plants are now being mass produced in South Africa and other parts of the world because there is a hugh demand for the diet products manufactured from the plant. The Hoodia plant was discovered when researchers found that the SAN bushmen tribes of Southern Africa were using the Hoodia plant as a main source of food, water, and medicine while on long hunting trips into the desert. This way of life had been passed down to them for over 25,000 years. By eating the stems of the plants the bushmen could go for longer periods of time before eating and drinking. The plant also provided them energy to keep going. They did not feel hungry or thirsty. Scientists were intrigued and vowed to find out what the properties were in this plant that kept the bushmen healthy. Researchers studied the Hoodia plant for about 30 years and finally discovered the (named P57) appetite suppressing ingredient in it. A patent was then applied for and licensed to by Phytopharm. Phytopharm performed clinical studies on rats and humans with very promising results. The subjects who were given the Hoodia Gordonii ate about 1000 calories less each day which resulted in weight loss for them all. Plus the subjects did not have any side effects from taking the Hoodia. Since there is an ever growing problem with obesity through the world ( over 55% of the adult population in North America), the Hoodia plant may very well be the miracle diet product ever sought after and utilized. Thousands of testimonials already pouring in is a good indication of that. With more and more people using the diet products manufactured from the Hoodia plant, one only hopes the supply can keep up with the demand. This demand has drawn out a lot of fraudulant products which contain little or no Hoodia at all so the consumer must be aware of such products so they are not scammed.
